In-Town Grocery & General Shopping

  • Fareway Meat and Grocery: The absolute anchor for groceries in town. Located right on Walnut Street, it features a fantastic, full-service fresh meat counter and everyday grocery staples. (Note: Like all Fareway locations, it is closed on Sundays).

  • Casey's General Store: Convenient for quick emergency pick-ups (like a gallon of milk, basic snacks, or ice) when you need something fast or after hours.

  • Ogden Farm & Feed Center: A local staple for hardware, tools, lawn/gardening supplies, automotive items, and animal feed.

  • Everlastings Flowers + Gifts: Great local stop for home decor, seasonal gifts, and floral arrangements.

Heavy Shopping & Big-Box Trips (10–15 mins east in Boone)

When you need to stock up on bulk items, specialty foods, or things Fareway doesn't carry, most locals make the quick drive down US-30 East to Boone:

  • Boone Hy-Vee: A massive, full-service supermarket open seven days a week. Excellent for specialty health foods, a large organic produce section, a full bakery, and a pharmacy.

  • Walmart Supercenter (Boone): The go-to nearby stop for full one-stop shopping—clothing, household goods, electronics, personal care items, and extended grocery lines.

  • Boone Downtown Commercial District: Features several independent clothing boutiques, antique stores, and hobby shops if you are looking for local retail therapy.

Parks & Recreation

  • Don Williams Recreation Area: A massive county park 5 miles north featuring a great fishing lake, camping, and a 9-hole golf course.

  • Ledges State Park: A short drive southeast, famous for its 100-foot sandstone cliffs, steep hiking trails, and shallow stream crossings.

  • Lincoln Prairie Park: Located right on the edge of town, offering quiet walking paths and open prairie spaces.

  • Ogden City Park: A classic green space right in the heart of town with playgrounds and picnic shelters.

  • Harrier Waterfowl Production Area: A quiet, peaceful marshland just outside of town, great for birdwatching and nature walks.
